Chapter 1
The Voice
I lay all alone in my hospital bed...except for my tiny baby. "His name is Lance." I told myself. He was named after my college professor...the most understanding man I had ever met. My baby was healthy...he lay asleep in my arms. I looked down on him...loving him. The nurse came in and took my baby away to run some tests and give him his shots. I shrugged as she asked for him, I trusted her even though I had never seen her before. When she took him away I closed my eyes and tilted my head toward the cealing. I thought to myself, 'You've had a hard life, Lena. All will be well, though. God knows what he's doing.' I sighed. I didn't want to wait for everything to get better, I wanted it to BE better. I kept my eyes closed and rolled onto my side. "Lena...Lena...." said a tiny voice. I squinted my eyes, thinking that I had fallen asleep. "LENA!" the voice snapped. I kept my eyes shut, looking for a picture. Nothing. The voice was gone. I opened my eyes and sat up. The nurse had come back. Was she the one who was yelling?
Chapter 2
Lance
"I was TRYING to talk to you!" the nurse snapped. "Here's little Lance." the nurse had changed back to her sweet voice. The phrase "Little Lance" sounded odd to me. The nurse decided to speak again. "Lance is doing well. We all think he is pretty healthy. You're free to go home now." the nurse left the room closing th door behind her. I let out a heavy sigh, glad that Lance was awake. "I will call you Lannie." I said softly, once again smiling down at my baby. I put him down onto the wheeley bed and changed into reguler clothes. I grabbed my purse and baby bag...and Lannie. I slowly walked out of the hospital, the other nurses and docters too busy to notice. I got into my car, buckled in Lannie, and drove away.
It was good to be home! I struggled to unlock the door with my hands full. I finially got in with Lannie. It was so quiet. I put Lannie into the play pen that I had gotten for him a while back. I felt a little lonely without another adult in the house. If only Allen hadn't left to join his "soul mate" in LA. I sighed.
Chapter 3
ILL
This stuff may not be very accurate because I didn't research(I am too lazy!).
A few hours later Lannie got sick. I was so scared! He got very pale and he couldn't stop throwing up. I didn't have any suposatories so I called an ambulance. It pulled in very loudly a few minutes later. They took Lannie and we all jumped into the back.
When we got to the hospital, they took him away and wouldn't let me come. I had to wait, worried sick, in the waiting room all by myself...
About 45 minutes later, one of the doctors took me back. Lannie was in a weird plastic see through box with holes in it. "Lannie!" I screamed. I ran over to him and held onto the box. "Lena. Please calm yourself." said a different doctor. "What's wrong with him?!" I wept. "He has been poisoned." "WHAT?!" "He has been ORALLY poisoned." "Oh, God..." I said breathlessly before I fell to the floor and my world went black.
